Here's an old pine mule chest, or chest of drawers with a lift-up lid for storage. It dates from around 1900 and combines both drawer and trunk-style storage in one charming piece.

Under the lift-up lid, there’s a traditional candle box on the left-hand side — originally designed for storing candles — with space beside it for linen and other items. The lid retains its original bracket hinges, and the lock is in working order with its original key.

Below are two drawers, with the upper section featuring a dummy drawer front. One drawer has been repaired at some point, while the lower drawer remains original. Both drawers operate smoothly, and I can ensure everything is working properly if you choose to have it wax finished.
