This is a very nice, clean, and solid Victorian pine blanket chest, currently in bare wood having been recently stripped. It's in lovely condition for its age, with a warm, even tone and a simple, classic design. Each end is fitted with a traditional carrying handle, making it both practical and easy to move.

Inside, the chest is neat and tidy and includes a candle box on the left-hand side—a feature typical of the period, originally used to store candles separately from blankets and linens. Additionally, a strengthening batten has been added inside the lid at some point, likely to make it more robust for sitting. This discreet addition has made the chest sturdier and more versatile in use.

A small wooden support has also been added to the rear to allow the lid to remain upright without needing to rest against a wall. While this works well and feels stable, it's worth noting that leaving the lid open for extended periods can put pressure on the hinges, so it’s best to close it when not in use.

The back is tidy and the chest overall is very solid. Please note, there is no key for the original lock—if having a working lock is essential, let us know and we can check if it’s possible to fit one.
