Here’s a great example of a Victorian pine Lancashire dresser base, also sometimes referred to as a sideboard or buffet. It’s a lovely, characterful piece with a classic layout and plenty of storage.

The configuration consists of three drawers on the left, three on the right, and a central cupboard with a drawer above. The central cupboard contains a small internal shelf. The piece is decorated with attractive turned columns, both at the outer edges and framing the central section, giving it a distinctive and traditional look.

It currently has a fairly rustic appearance, as it hasn’t yet been refinished. The drawers are generally running well, though a couple will need minor adjustment, which is quite normal for a piece of this age. The feet are all old, though there may have been one or two replacements over time — once waxed, these will blend in nicely.

This is a solid and well-made piece that will come up beautifully once cleaned, adjusted, and wax finished.
