Here’s a large, chunky, and sturdy antique pine blanket chest. Originally painted, it has recently been stripped back to bare wood and is now ready for finishing in the wax of your choice.

The chest is clean and tidy inside and retains its original penny-end strap hinges. It also has carrying handles on both ends and metal reinforcing brackets in the corners, adding to its strength and character. The back is equally tidy, so it could be positioned anywhere in a room.

The lock is present, although there is no key and the lock is not currently working.

The lid is particularly sturdy and could comfortably be used as a bench seat. If you intend to use it regularly for seating, an additional strengthening brace can be fitted beneath the lid if desired.
