Early Georgian Period Painted Dome-Top Pine Chest (K7705B)
Early Georgian Period Painted Dome-Top Pine Chest (K7705B)
A truly remarkable and very early antique pine chest, believed to be Georgian in period and most likely Eastern European in origin. The dome-shaped top gives it the character of a traditional treasure chest, and the paintwork is quite extraordinary — covering the exterior with intricate patterns, floral motifs, and figurative scenes. The interior is painted too, in a warm green, making this a piece that is as decorative inside as it is out.
The chest retains its lock, though no key is present, and there are original-style carrying handles on either side. It has a beautifully aged, warm quality that speaks to its considerable age. Given the nature of the paintwork and the overall character of the piece, we would warmly encourage prospective buyers to come and view it in person. Detailed photographs and video are available on request to give a thorough impression of the decoration.
